Q+A with Angelique

Introducing Angelique!

Hey there, I'm Angelique, I'm 24 years old and about a year ago I decided to give my life a twist and convert my own tiny home on wheels. I was born in Germany but grew up in Spain for over 18 years, which made me grow up with different cultures, perspectives and people, what I think ultimately inspired me to seek the big dream of traveling the world before I settle myself somewhere in a tiny cabin in the wild :)

Her Story:

I am currently still finishing my VW LT 46, Jalapeño, which I will share with my little bean (cat) named sushi. It was 7 years ago that I realized that I wanted to life a different life than those I was witnessing around me. In many ways, I believe that the way most people choose to live their lives can often be the source of unhappiness and depression that such a big part of our society is going through. I wanted a lifestyle that enables me to live present, aware and mindful. A lifestyle that allows me to spend time with the simple pleasures of life and spend as much time examining what I love; Plants and nature.

I am currently working in our family business, where I have created a brand through which I developed vegan products that are now available all across Germany. I am blessed with a job that I can do from anywhere in the world!

Angelique’s routines.

Although I love my days to be as different and unique as possible, I do have certain rituals which I do on a day to day basis in order to keep my balance. Those often include waking up early to see the sunrise, sit with my thoughts and meditate. I love to move first thing too, whether it is a walk in nature, a yoga session or stretching really depends on how I am feeling that day :). One more thing I could call a routine is that I love to challenge myself to try new things as often as possible!

Her work!

In the brand I created, Der Vegane Flammuchen, my work mainly revolves around marketing, social media management, product development and innovation projects. Usually, we would travel across Germany to visit as many food fairs as possible and present our product to new customers.

Her hobbies!

I love studying nature and learning from it about life. It is insane how much we can see if we are willing to take a look. In my experience, I learned  so much more from nature than I did from anything else. Its not that hard, really! Want to know the secrets of excellent team work? Then you have no better teachers than the ants sitting by your doorstep :)

I also love spending my time with creative projects like painting, experimenting with doing things from scratch, turning plants into... basically anything! Ink, Dye, deodorants, spirits... I love a good challenge.

Angelique’s favorite outdoor activities!

I love walking through the forest with Sushi, anything water related too like SUP, surf, rafting... Sometimes a simple nap under a tree will do it for me too :)

Her favorite hiking technique!

It would be insanely hard to decide for my 'favourite' trails. In all honesty, I prefer to get off the trail more than following it. There are so many miracles hiding in places where people don't usually set foot on!

Angelique’s healthy habits.

I love to use nature as an orientation here too. I try to see what is seasonal, what grows most where I am and is sold in most organic markets. Foraging from nature also allows me to have a very diverse diet, most ingredients only grow at a certain time in the season!

3 luxury items she keeps on hand while traveling.

Hot. water. bottles. I have a deep love for them. I'd also keep my camera to capture everything I see and share it with the world. The last thing i'd keep would be my tea brewer, cause life just wouldn't be the same if I couldn't experiment with wild tea!

1 pro and 1 con about tiny living/the nomadic lifestyle.

One pro is definitely the dynamic and diverse day to day life. Nothing is ever the same, and I have the freedom to roam where I want to when I feel like it.

A con is perhaps, missing having close friends that you see on a daily or weekly basis... unless you take them with you, of course!

Angelique’s advice to aspiring nomads.

Stop thinking about what might or could happen. It took me 7 years to realize that if I dont get my butt off the couch to start building that van no one else will do it for me. I didn't have the money, and had to borrow it all. It didn’t stop me though... cause if not now, then when!?

There is ALWAYS a way to make things work. In fact, once you start working for your dreams, most of the times things start working on they own :)

If you havent seen my cat yet, go look at her. She is precious. bean.

If you ever hop around germany, come and check if you find my Flammkuchen here :D!

You can get to know Angelique better by giving her a follow on Instagram!

I post daily updates on my Instagram, @wild.roads.ahead, and share all my thoughts with my friends on there!
